About the Summer Series
Engaging with a client's family can be more complicated than what you learned in grad school. The Training Institute at Washburn Center invites you to the first annual Summer Series for clinicians! This 4-part training series will highlight skills, tools and insights to effectively engage with the diversity of families in our community.
Participants may register for individual sessions, or for the full training series at a discounted price!

About Jenny Britton
Jenny Britton, MSW, LICSW is the Director of Child and Family Services at Washburn Center for Children. She has worked in a variety of roles since joining Washburn Center in 2003. Jenny’s past experience includes elementary day treatment, in-home individual and family therapy, school-based individual and group therapy, children’s mental health case management, outpatient therapy and providing therapeutic services at a homeless shelter. She received her Bachelors degree in Social Work and Family Studies from St. Olaf College and her Masters in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine. At Washburn Center, Jenny helped develop a number of community based programs including Case Management, Intensive In-Home, and Crisis Stabilization before she becoming Associate Clinical Director of those programs. Her areas of expertise include supporting children who are severely emotionally disturbed and their families, wrap around services for children and families who have been exposed to trauma and providing in-home family therapy. Jenny is passionate about helping families in the communities they live heal from trauma. Additionally, she utilizes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and provides trainings in EMDR and community-based holistic healing.

Objectives:
Participants in this training will...
1. Identify and discuss myths of in-home and community-based therapy
2. Develop ways to bridge difference when working with varying family values, parenting styles, and culture
3. Increase skills for engaging families in difficult conversation
4. Engage in self-reflections about personal values
